W. Darren - asked:

Genital warts are one of the most common forms of sexually transmitted disease. These warts appear as small flesh-colored bumps that are raised and shaped like cauliflowers. ******* warts may start as tiny lesions that are approximately 2 millimeters in diameter. Then, they eventually grow and expand into bigger masses.

In men, ******* warts develop on and around the scrotum, **** area, and ***** shaft. In women, they are usually found in and out of the vagina, uterus, cervix, and around the ****. For both genders, ******* warts may manifest around the throat and mouth areas especially when the individual has previously engaged in sexual *********** with another infected person.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the virus that is responsible for ******* warts. There are a total of 100 strains of HPV. However, only 30 strains can infect our ******* region. These 30 strains are what we call ******* HPV, which can affect approximately 50 percent of women and men who are sexually active.

Two types of HPV exist: low-risk and high-risk. High-risk HPV may bring about cancer of the vagina, cervix, anus, throat, or *****. This type of HPV is not related to the type that causes ******* warts. Type 16 HPV is related to approximately half of all the cases of cervical cancer. Types 45, 31, 18, and 16 all together are related to 80 percent of the cases of cervical cancer.

Low-risk HPV is the one that leads to ******* warts. To be specific, approximately 90 percent of the cases of ******* warts are caused by types 11 and 6 of HPV. Low-risk HPV is often hard to detect since it does not manifest any symptoms. In fact, a lot of people are carriers of HPV but they are not aware of it. Thus, the risk of transmitting HPV becomes even higher. It would be for your own good if you undergo regular check-ups so that you would know whether or not you have the virus.

The most common method through which ******* warts can be transferred from one person to another is through sexual *********** with an infected person. Experts estimate that approximately 66 percent of those who engage in *** with an infected individual will have ******* warts either through oral, anal, or vaginal ***. Childbirth is another way by which ******* warts can be transmitted. When the infant passes through a woman’s infected birth canal, there is a possibility that he/she can develop warts inside his/her mouth and throat. This is called laryngeal papillomatosis.

The probability of ******* warts occurring as well as other HPV-related illnesses are further increased by some risk factors. These risk factors include having many *** partners, becoming sexually active at an early age, having STDs in the past, and engaging in sexual *********** with an individual even though you are not aware of his/her sexual history. The use of oral contraceptives such as birth control pills may also increase your chances of having ******* warts because of decreased protected sexual ***********.

Smoking, excessive stress, and alcohol consumption may also raise your chances of contracting ******* warts. Moreover, a compromised immunity against diseases is a risk factor. Thus, those who have undergone physical trauma through surgery and other invasive procedures as well as those who have had serious diseases such as cervical cancer will most probably have ******* warts.

Content

Krishan Bakhru asked:

For the person who is interested there are more than enough ******* warts pictures, information, articles and books available to be find on the subject. And the most popular method in this day and age tends to be none other than the internet of course.

With the world literally at your fingertips it is very difficult to not find some little morsel of information which you are looking for. That said, it can also be too easy to find ******* warts pictures when you don’t want to, or even mean to.

Although for the most part you will find some warning or other telling that you will be coming across graphic ******* warts pictures, some sites don’t give this warning, or at least not in a very prominent place. And for the unwary visitor looking only for information on ******* warts and not ******* warts pictures, this can be distressing in the extreme.

For others of course, those preferably with inquisitive minds and cast iron stomachs, these ******* warts pictures are merely something to be looked at and studied in depth. This is why you will almost always find coupled with these ******* warts pictures, information about ******* warts itself.

This naturally enough, is what most people are looking for when they search for ******* warts pictures and information on the internet. This could be due to a number of reasons, but the main reason will normally lie in the fact that they suspect themselves of having the ******* warts infection, or they have just been diagnosed with the infection.

In these instances people will search through and find as much information as they can, to be able to weigh their options better. This includes finding treatment options for ******* warts as well as finding the various treatment methods.

Unfortunately for those conducting these searches they will also come across ******* warts pictures which can disturb their minds more than they can help them. This is why you need to proceed cautiously when going to websites which contain the necessary information needed about ******* warts.

If however, you’re willing to stomach it and you won’t become depressed by these ******* warts pictures, you will find that quite a few pages which have the ******* warts pictures displayed prominently on their pages, also have quite a lot of information contained within them as well.

Remember though that ******* warts pictures can be very graphic and disturbing. If you are not ready to deal with them, you really should stay away from them, and gather what information you can from your doctor instead. This is always a good option for you to explore.

Create a video blog

Dr. Scholl’s For Genital Warts Is One Choice

Genital warts are an intensely private disease that many people feel uncomfortable and too embarrassed to with their doctors. That is why they prefer to rather get over the counter treatments such as Dr Scholl’s Wart remover. The active ingredient in Dr Scholl’s Wart remover is salicylic acid. This acid has been use throughout history for the treatment of warts. The name salicylic comes from the Latin word ‘salix’ meaning willow tree. Salicylic acid is to be found in the bark of willow trees and it acts by breaking down the layers of the wart. The same salicylic acid is also found in products such as Compound W, Freezone and Wart Off.

Over the counter treatments such as Dr Scholl’s contain strong chemicals and the majority of medical professionals are most definitely not in favor of patients using these. The strong chemicals in such treatments can easily damage the skin in the genital area as the skin in this area is delicate and hyper sensitive. If you decide to go ahead and use any medication that contains salicylic acid, such as Dr Scholl’s, you are strongly advised to read through the instructions properly and never to deviate from those instructions under any circumstances. Do not be impatient and try to use more of the product than recommended; this could cause great harm to your skin and you can get salicylic acid poisoning as well. Take great care never to use these medications on mucous membranes under any circumstances. If your eyes or any other mucous membranes should by accident come into contact with salicylic acid, immediately flush the contact area with water and keep this up for continuously for at least fifteen minutes.

Before applying any product such as Dr Scholl’s or any other salicylic acid products, you must hydrate the skin. This is so that the effect of the medication can be enhanced. You do this by applying warm water to the affected area 5 minutes before you apply the medication. Dry the area to be treated and remove any loose skin or tissue around or on the genital wart. Then apply the medication and follow instructions and within a week or two there should be an improvement. Genital warts can reoccur and if you should have a following outbreak it is advised that your contact your doctor immediately.

Care should be taken never to use Dr Scholl’s on warts that have hair growing out of them, moles or birthmarks. People with diabetes, impaired circulation, pregnant women and those who show hypersensitivity to salicylic acid should also avoid this product. It is imperative that pregnant women avoid any products containing strong chemicals as research has proven that these medications can heighten or cause the chances of birth defects.

If a specific part of your body starts to itch you should take a close look. For every condition there is a cause and if the area near the genitals is itching it is possible that you have contracted genital warts. Because it involves a part of the body that is private does not mean that you should remain silent. A medical practitioner is the right person to talk to. They have dealt with many such cases and have all the knowledge and expertise to give you immediate help. It is essential that you start treatment right away if it is genital warts.

Dry Skin May Or May Not Be Genital Warts

Genital warts attack the most delicate and hypersensitive areas of our bodies. The disease brings great physical discomfort to sufferers and we are embarrassed to even talk about it, thus we often keep quiet until the condition has reached a severe state.

One of the most irritating aspects, besides the pain and discomfort of the warts themselves, is the itchy and dry skin that surrounds the wart or warts. This dry skin is called genital psoriasis; this happens because the skin becomes dehydrated and looses its natural oils. The skin in the genital area is the most sensitive on the body and this makes treating the dry and itchy skin difficult.

Dermatologists have found that the best way to treat this dry and flakey skin that occurs with the onset of genital warts is to treat it the same way as you would dry scalp. A good medicated shampoo formulated for itchy scalp should be applied to the affected area and left on for between five and ten minutes. Then rinse thoroughly and dry the area. There are various cortisone creams available, choose one with one percent hydrocortisone and apply this twice daily after using the shampoo. If you experience discomfort during the day a general anti-itch cream can be applied to help sooth the itch.

For many centuries, people have used coal tar successfully in the treatment of psoriases and the dry, flakey skin that typifies this disease. Coal tar is now available as a prescription or an over-the-counter medication that can be used for genital psoriasis. Coal tar medication has an unpleasant smell and is known to stain clothing, but is a very effective and safe medication to use. The coal tar medication can be applied before bedtime and then left until morning before washing off. Do remember to wear undergarments made of cotton to allow the body to breathe, stay away from synthetic materials and avoid permanent press clothing for this will irritate the already sensitive skin because it contains formaldehyde.

Dry, flakey skin in the genital area might also point towards a fungal infection as well as genital psoriasis being present at the time. In such cases an anti-fungal treatment will be added to the treatment of the genital psoriasis and should be used for a period of seven to ten days. If you see that there is no response to the treatment after a few days, it is best to immediately contact your dermatologist for advice and maybe a change in treatment.

Care should be taken to keep your life as stress free as possible as genital psoriasis acts as a barometer for your physical and emotional state and often genital psoriasis can be resistant and stress will heighten this problem.

If you are a person who has sensitive skin it is never a good idea to make use of over the counter remedies. There is one condition in particular that can be treated with such a remedy. Genital warts are a condition that is very uncomfortable and can be treated with a topical cream. But the cream is made up of very powerful chemicals. The last thing you want to do is to add to the discomfort you are already enduring. After using the cream you should notice the warts getting smaller. But if you can feel or see that your skin is being adversely affected stop using the cream immediately and seek medical attention.

Genital Wart Removers Over The Counter Not The Best Option

Most health care professionals strongly disapprove of sufferers of genital warts doing self-treatment and making use of over-the-counter medication. The reason for this is that the genital area has the most sensitive skin on the entire body and when a person uses medication on this area incorrectly, skin damage can be the result. Yet, many thousands of people use these over-the-counter medications with success; therefore, it is not the medication itself that is being objected to, but the irresponsible use thereof.

The most used over-the-counter topical treatment for genital warts are products containing salicylic acid the most common brand names in this range are Dr Scholl’s Wart Remover, Wart-Off, compound W and Freezone.

Before any person embarks on any form of home treatment for genital warts it is imperative that he or she consults with their doctor as any kind of treatment of the genital area should be undertaken with great care. People with a known sensitivity to salicylic acid, or have diabetes or is HIV positive should not use these products. Any products containing salicylic acid should be avoided by any pregnant female as well. If at any time during home treatment of genital warts, redness or irritation happens you should immediately contact your doctor.

There is another form of treatment for genital warts available. On the market there is an over-the-counter remedy that does not destroy skin as salicylic acid products do. But the topical cream interacts with the skin and thereby prompts the body’s immune system to start attacking the virus. Feedback from patients who have used this cream says that about half of the patients experienced total removal of warts that were treated and the other half reports that all treated warts shrunk quite dramatically.

The manufacturers of this new generation topical creams claim that the body uses its own immune system to attack the genital warts and control the outbreaks and have the potential to totally cure these warts. The manufacturers thereby claim that they can save sufferers of genital warts the trauma of having to discuss this highly embarrassing condition with doctors, thereby adding to the quality of life of sufferers.

It must be remembered though that all health care practitioners advise against the use of any over-the-counter medication and self-treatment of genital warts. Before you decide on any over-the-counter treatment that it is best to first discuss any form of treatment with your doctor as you do not want to make an already serious problem worse by damaging your skin.

If you have any doubts and questions about genital warts you can contact the Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases [NIAID]. They are part of the National Institute of Health and will advise you on prevention, diagnoses and treatment of sexually transmitted infections.

It is a very good course of action for adults who have noted genital warts in a child to contact the social services. Over the years, pediatricians have believed that genital warts are an indication that child abuse has taken place. More recently, these professionals base their decision on more than the occurrence of genital warts in children. There is a very good reason for this and it comes from highly experienced professionals in the field of child abuse.

One such highly specialized professional is Dr Sara Sinal. She is a pediatrician working at the Brenner Children’s Hospital. Cases that involve the abuse of children are her specialty. She noticed that the virus that is the root cause of genital warts is also found in children who suffer from laryngeal warts. These are warts that occur in the throat and mouth. For this reason these children are placed under the care of an ENT (ear nose and throat specialist). Even though these children carried the HPV (virus that causes genital warts) these children were not victims of sexual abuse.

It is true that the virus is exactly the same as the one that causes genital warts but it is in a different area of the body. Because the warts are not in the genital area it is not assumed that they are linked to abuse. Dr Sara Sinal and her colleagues examined just how the diagnosis of child abuse and genital warts was made. Dr Sinal is of the opinion that children who have not been abused can have genital warts. This can happen without sexual contact having happened. She recommends that Social Services should only be contacted if there are also other implications of abuse in children. She has stated that it is devastating for a family and the child to have to deal with a report that is not true. Dr Sinal and her team advise that each and every child must be very carefully examined to completely rule out sexual abuse.

There are children who have genital warts who have never been abused and there are those without genital warts who are indeed victims of abuse. HPV can make warts appear in the mucous membranes. These can be found in the respiratory organs, mouth, genitals and anus. Genital warts are undoubtedly the most rampant of all the venereal diseases in the United States. If an expectant mother is infected with HPV the chances are very great that it will pass from her to the unborn child.

Whether genital warts are evident in adults or children it is vital to get to a medical practitioner as soon as you can. It is best to start treatment right away so the warts do not spread over a larger area. This makes it harder to get rid of. The only one who can decide whether or not a child may have genital warts due to child abuse is a trained medical practitioner.
